May 19 ------ Kaye Abad looked back at the time she was diagnosed with breast cancer in 2025, though she had already been declared cancer-free. Abad opened up about her breast cancer diagnosis in a birthday vlog, where she clarified that she “didn’t pretend that [she] was sick, [she] just pretended to be well.”

At the time, the actress was unsure of how hard her breast cancer diagnosis would be, though she recalled how she held on to love at the time. “I didn’t know what treatments I would go through, how hard the journey would be, or if I would even survive it. For one year, ang daming moments of fear, uncertainties, and pain. But also so much faith, hope, and love that carried me through. And today, I can finally say I am a cancer survivor,” she said.

The actress also shared that she underwent a mammogram in January 2025 after going through a six-hour stomachache in September 2024 upon recommendation from her doctor. Since she was unsure how the results would turn out, she decided to document each step of the process. What made Abad’s diagnosis harder was the thought of leaving her kids, which is why she and her husband, Paul Jake Castillo, decided to have her cancer treated in Singapore. “Alam kong hindi ako pababayaan ni Lord because He’s always been there ever since. Kahit dalaga pa ako, never akong pinabayaan. Hanggang sa nagka-asawa ako, nagka-anak ako, walang problema,” she said. “Mataas yung faith ko kay God na hindi niya ako pababayaan. God is good, always. I know he’s just there, ngayon pa, I know ngayong mas kailangan ko siya, hindi niya ako pababayaan,” she continued.

After a year of treatments, Abad was informed by the doctor that she was already cleared. “She declared, as of now, you can declare that you’re a survivor and you’re cancer-free. I’ve been waiting for this day,” she told Paul Jake while being overwhelmed with tears. Abad started her entertainment career in the 1990s, during which her appearances on “AngTV” and “Gimik” earned her widespread recognition. She was recently seen in the 2024 Netflix film “A Journey.”
