Judy Ann Santos to star in Brillante Mendoza's new political film - report

May 19 ------ Judy Ann Santos is teaming up once again with acclaimed director Brillante Mendoza for a political drama film, according to a report.

The film titled "Aid" was introduced at the Cannes Film Market, and is expected to be produced as a bilateral co-production between France and the Philippines, trade outlet Variety reported. The feature reportedly tells the story of a non-governmental organization (NGO) worker who works to protect Aeta children but finds herself entangled in the broader machinery of international humanitarian aid.

The film's principal cast also includes French actresses Stacy Martin and Jeanne Balibar. The film will be shot in an Aeta village in Pampanga, the director's home province, with production scheduled to begin in October. Santos and Mendoza previously worked together in the 2019 war drama film "Mindanao."
