SB19, Rico Blanco bring out the spunk in OPM Con 2025 stage

July 8 ------ P-pop powerhouse SB19 and Rico Blanco brought the OPM Con 2025 to its feet as they joined forces for a performance for “Liwanag sa Dilim” and “DUNGKA!”

SB19 and Blanco’s collaboration came as a bit of a surprise as this was not widely publicized in the second edition of the OPM Con 2025, held at the Philippine Arena on Saturday, July 5. The concert, sponsored by a supermarket chain, aimed to elevate OPM into global heights.

One of the highlights of the musical event was Blanco and SB19’s performance of their respective hits “Liwanag sa Dilim” and “DUNGKA!”, with the singer-songwriter showing off his “hidden” talent — that is, dancing — as he matched the P-pop King’s energy with equal intensity.

Pablo, Josh, Stell, Ken, and Justin stepped onstage, armed with the theatrics of their “Simula at Wakas” tour and the W3 dance troupe. The group then set the stage ablaze with “DAM,” “Crimzone,” “Quit,” and “8TonBall” with their signature vocal and dance prowess. It was almost hard to believe that their appearance came just days after the Taiwan leg of their world tour. But the highlight of their set was the surprise appearance of Blanco, who joined the quintet for “Liwanag sa Dilim.” Known as one of Rivermaya’s signature hits, the song was revived by Pablo for the soundtrack of the action drama “Incognito.”

Blanco also showed off his knack for dance in “DUNGKA!”. Prior to the stage, the musician’s longtime fans knew he was a dancer before he made a name for himself as part of Rivermaya. But this performance showed that he can groove on the dance floor as well. Also joining SB19’s “DUNGKA!” set were BINI’s Sheena, KAIA, and G22 who showed off their spunk with the song’s chorus, “Kung ‘di mo ‘to gusto / Tumabi ka diyan.”
