November 28 ------ 'Pulang Araw' will be part of the Lunar Codex project and is set to be the first Filipino TV series archived on the moon.
Filipino wartime family drama series Pulang Araw just gained an out-of-this-world achievement. It is set to be the first Filipino TV series archived on the moon as it becomes part of the ambitious Lunar Codex project in 2025. The Lunar Codex is a series of time capsules that will be left on the moon for future generations. It contains works of over 35,000 contemporary artists, writers, musicians, and filmmakers from all over the world.
Pulang Araw was invited to be part of the collection as it showcases a significant part of Philippine history and reflects the indomitable spirit of Filipinos in facing adversity. The series will be part of the Lunar Codex's Polaris collection, launching to the Lunar South Pole region sometime between September and October 2025.
Pulang Araw tells the story of four friends torn apart by war during the Japanese occupation of the Philippines during World War II. It stars Barbie Forteza, Sanya Lopez, David Licauco, and Alden Richards, together with Dennis Trillo. It is directed by Dominic Zapata and written by Suzette Doctolero.
