May 8 ------ Reigning Miss Universe Sheynnis Palacios recently visited the Philippines as part of her ongoing tour around Asia. She stayed in the country from May 1 to 6 before leaving for the next leg of her tour in India.
Sheynnis received a warm welcome from the Filipinos. In an interview with the press upon her arrival, the beauty queen from Nicaragua expressed excitement at the “unforgettable experiences and cherished memories waiting to be made.”
Sheynnis, who has been banned to return to her home country due to political conflict, has been touring around Asia after winning the Miss Universe crown.

Thailand
Sheynnis' first stop on her Asian Tour is Thailand, where she stayed in Bangkok for a few days. Shaynnis also paid respect to the water buffalo while in Thailand. In her post, she wrote, "I respect you, great bearer of blessings and prosperity!" She also thanked the water buffalo for letting her appreciate him. The Miss Universe Queen also visited kids with the help of the Association for the Promotion of Status Women and gave a talk about empowerment and making their dreams come true. Sheynnis spent her time wisely in Thailand, touring the city and talking to the locals, doing her duty as Miss Universe queen. While in Thailand, Sheynnis celebrated Songkran Festival, the country's most famous festival. It marks the beginning of the traditional Thai New Year.
Laos
Her next stop for her Asian Tour is Laos where Sheynnis received a warm welcome from the locals. In the official Miss Universe Instagram page, they mentioned how they, together with the Beauty Queen, are excited to be with them "on this adventure for the first time." Sheynnis took part in the local traditions of Laos and explored some of the most beautiful places. She even met some locals, including children in the hospital, and gave them hope. Meanwhile Sheynnis earned praises when she took part in the local traditions of Laos, with some fans saying that what she did was "what Miss Universe stands for."
Cambodia
Nest on Sheynnis' Asian Tour is Cambodia where she also did a short photoshoot in the country. While in Cambodia, Sheynnis visited Angkor Wat, a Hindu-Buddhist temple complex. She was dressed as an Aspara or a class of celestial beings in Hindu and Buddhist culture. It seems that Miss Universe Sheynnis will be taking on the title of Master Chef as she did not only try Cambodian cuisine, but she also had her hand at cooking it.
China
Before she got to the Philippines, Shennis went to China and enjoyed the local scene and cuisine. She stayed in Shanghai and enjoyed the beauty and elegance of the city. Continuing her cooking journey from Cambodia, Shennis tried making dumplings in China.
Charm and elegance
Aside from the local cuisine, Shennis also enjoyed the charm and elegance of the country.
Philippines
Shennis finally arrived in the Philippines on May 1 and was welcomed warmly by the Filipinos. Shennis was welcomed with open arms and a warm embrace by her Filipino fans. She explored the rich culture and breathtaking landscapes of the country. One of the advocacies of Miss Universe is Smile Train, a cleft-focused organization providing corrective surgery for children with cleft lips. As the newest Miss Universe, Shennis received the warmest hug from one of the kids that they were helping. Sheynnis felt the love and warmth of the Filipinos the most during her motorcade at SM Mall of Asia Complex. During the event, she was seen teary-eyed while hugging a flag of her home country, Nicaragua.
India
Sheynnis left the country on May 6 to continue her Asian Tour. Her next stop is India, where she will be staying from May 7 to 9.
