April 1 ------ While Barbie Forteza and Ogie Diaz will take a pause from their schedules this Holy Week, Heart Evangelista will be busy with work-related activities outside the Philippines.
Many celebrities, such as Forteza and Diaz, intend to take a break from their usual routine and catch up with their families. In Evangelista’s case, even though she will be busy working, she nonetheless reminds the public to spend time with their loved ones when they’re having a break.
As the public slows down from their piled-up schedules, take a look at how celebrities plan to spend the Holy Week:
Ogie Diaz
The entertainment insider told Inquirer Bandera that he often participates in the Pabasa, a Catholic tradition of reading holy devotions during Holy Week. He also shared that he’s the chairman of the Pabasa in his church in Loreto Street, Sampaloc, Manila.
“Parang nag-reunion na rin kami ng mga kababata ko doon. Kailangan lang na maraming laman ang bulsa mo. Pagdaan mo pa lang sa kalsada, sa kanto, may mga [nanghihingi] ng pang-inom, pangkain, at pambili ng yosi,” he added. Diaz added that participating in the Panata is a must for him every year. “Tradisyon na talaga kasi mula pa noong bata ako, bumabasa na ako sa Pabasa. Kaya lagi akong excited kapag pabasa. Kapag nasa abroad naman ako, inihahabilin ko yung pabasa. Kailangan talagang every year ‘yun. Panata na talaga,” he said.
Max Collins
Kapuso actress Max Collins said she plans to go to the beach, though she’s unsure if it’s in Palawan or Boracay. “Baka Palawan or bakasyon sa Boracay for now, since I know [Boracay] head to toe. I just want to be at the beach. That, for me, is a vacation,” she told “24 Oras.”
Heart Evangelista
Evangelista said that she won’t be in the Philippines and instead will be working abroad. “Magtatrabaho pa rin ako (I’ll still be working), I won’t be here in Holy Week, I have work. Enjoy the moment. When you have a break, enjoy your life with your loved ones,” she said.
Barbie Forteza
Focusing on her family, Forteza said she’ll be spending time with her sister, brother-in-law, nephew, and other family members. “Mina-maximize ko na talaga ‘yung free time ko with my family because my whole family is here, my sister, my brother-in-law, and my nephew,” she said. “Kami lagi magkakasama ng buong pamilya ko. ‘Yun na ‘yung parang magiging Holy Week ko.”
Glaiza de Castro
Inviting her followers to take a break at her resort in Baler, de Castro seemingly hinted that she’ll be in the Philippines at this time. “Escape to Baler this Holy Week. Find peace, rest, and a little adventure by the sea,” she wrote.
Kim Molina and Jerald Napoles
Molina and Napoles are relishing in newlywed bliss, with the couple planning to go on an out-of-the-country trip to celebrate their marriage. “Out of the country kami kasi diba, parang Holy Week and Christmas lang ang medyo mahaba-habang bakasyon natin kaya susulitin na namin (We’re going out of the country. It’s like it’s only the Holy Week and Christmas that offer us a long vacation, so we’ll make the most out of it),” Napoles said on the sidelines of “Wonderful Nightmare’s” premiere night.
The actress-comedienne chimed in, saying it would be a honeymoon of sorts since her husband would be busy. “Medyo mini-honeymoon na rin siya. Lipad muna kami elsewhere nang very, very light (It’s a mini honeymoon of some sort. We’ll be flying lightly).”
Napoles also shared that he’ll be part of “Sigabo,” led by Coco Martin and Julia Montes. “Pagbalik namin, simula na ng trabaho uli. Kasama ako sa ‘Sigabo’ ni Direk Coco Martin. So tuloy-tuloy na ‘yun (When we return, I’ll be working again. I’m part of Direk Coco Martin’s ‘Sigabo,’ so filming will push through),” he said.
Jodi Sta. Maria
Sta. Maria has yet to share her Holy Week plans, but she nonetheless kicked off the week with a heartfelt reflection on the “almosts” that people go through in life. “Sometimes, what stays with us the longest are not the endings, but the almosts. Almost we said something. Almost we stayed. The almost we chose differently. Because almosts don’t close, they linger, they echo,” she said. Still, the actress said the “almosts” are a reminder not to live in regret. “And maybe that’s why they teach us the most. Not to live in regret, but to recognize the moments we don’t want to miss again.”
