MANILA, Philippines, January 27 ------ Kris Aquino has teased a possible return to interviewing through a video podcast, which she described as a potential “birthday gift” to her supporters, as she continues to recover from a recent medical ordeal.
In a social media update posted on Monday, Aquino shared, “With the correct safety protocols, pwede akong mag taped as live video podcast. I miss doing interviews! Will you watch and subscribe? Like this post if you want my podcast to start soon with a partial home tour? My birthday gift to you,” she enthused. She also shared reflections on her health, recovery and gratitude for those who stood by her following what was supposed to be a minor procedure earlier this month that later led to serious complications.
The post featured a carousel of photos and videos, including images of her son Bimby attending a church procession with fashion designer Michael Leyva, moments from the procedure, and scenes from her recovery. Aquino also marked the birthday of her late mother, former President Corazon Aquino, tying her current struggle to her mother’s quiet resilience. “This ‘carousel’ of photos and videos happened January 24, 6:30-10 PM; January 25 from 4 PM to 6:45 PM. I said yes to have my PortaCath re-done,” Aquino wrote, thanking the doctors and nurses who attended to her, some of whom stayed through the early morning hours.
The update follows Aquino’s earlier revelation that the procedure resulted in a life-threatening incident in which her lungs temporarily stopped functioning. In the post, she acknowledged both the physical toll and the emotional weight of the experience. “January 25 is my mom’s birthday. My mom never publicly shared with you all the excruciating operations and procedures she endured, and the difficult choices she made. She protected her privacy,” Aquino said. “I'm now choosing to post pictures/videos but not give detailed medical info. Kapag gumaling ako, that’s when I should share what I wrote in my journals, the many witnessed holographic instructions should anything happen, and my many playlists,” she added.
Aquino expressed deep gratitude to her medical team, naming doctors, nurses and specialists who helped manage her chronic pain and oversaw her recovery. She also thanked friends and visitors who came to see her at the hospital, including Sen. Robin Padilla and Erich Gonzales. “Thank you Senator @robinhoodpadilla for your Wednesday visit and @erichgg & @rbchanco for Friday night’s visit,” she wrote. “My blood earlier gushed out; I saw it because I was kept awake the entire time. My mom, I know, kept me SAFE. Until my wound heals completely, we can’t move into our semi-permanent residence. (Our home in Tarlac is the other),” Aquino continued.
Closing her message, Aquino said, “Thank you for your prayers and concern. Please change #fighting to #brave? I thank God for all of you. You don’t need to know how much I suffer; you need to see that I'll continue praying and believing that I will reach remission.”
