March 27 ------ In the forthcoming and inaugural edition of the Miss Grand International (MGI) All-Stars, described by some as a special edition of Miss Grand International, the Philippine sash will be worn by four stunning ladies. And one of them is Keylyn Trajano from the ALV Pageant Circle, under the tutelage of its president, Arnold Vegafria.

The latter, a queenmaker himself, recently sashed and crowned Keylyn as a Miss Grand International All-Stars Philippines in a festive and intimate gathering. “I’ve always seen on social media (that) there’s a pro and con about the topic, ‘Know when to peak,’” began Keylyn when this paper asked about her mindset as the country representative for the global competition, conceptualized by MGI founder and president Nawat Itsaragrisil, during a press conference. In the MGI All-Stars, former beauty contestants and titleholders are expected to participate and vie for the coveted title. “I firmly believe (or agree) with what Megan said, that always peak because you always have to put yourself (at) a level that I am myself, this is my authenticity, and I present myself and I am your winner,” added she, who was referring to the thoughts of Megan Young, the first and only Pinay Miss World, about the pageant tip or advice: know when to peak.

Beauty queens should always be at their best and bring their A-game. “So, my mindset right now is definitely peak and peak and peak… because this is an MGI All-Stars,” shared Keylen. “Of course, I’m here to enjoy… I wanna take it day by day. I want to enjoy the journey.” She also added that cross-cultural collaboration and international relations are important when competing abroad. She is also there to work with different countries through the latter’s representatives and be “an example to women” globally, sharing that peace can also be attained “through sisterhood” and the MGI All-Stars as a platform.

Keylyn’s earlier response also gave one a glimpse into her pageant strategy or game plan, as one may put it. “I call it the TP, or total package,” said she. “Nawat introduced the 4B’s in MGI, or Miss Grand International, which are beauty, brains, behavior, and business.” “For sure, it’s gonna be a different playing field, a much more upscale playing field with regard to (MGI) All-Stars because these (representatives) are all experienced queens,” shared she. “So, for sure, they would be looking for a total package, one that they could work with, one that (would) shine like a star.”

Keylyn also added that she is “a business person” who has been in the industry for more than a decade. Available online information says she’s the head of a start-up, specializing in public relations. Her publicity team says that Keylyn’s previous pageant titles are “Universal Woman Arabia 2025, Universal International 2025 (Top 12), Universal Woman Photogenic 2025, and Universal Voice 2025.” “Just being in the pageant industry, I just wanna offer something that will elevate pageantry and like what sir Arnold (Vegafria of ALV Pageant Circle) says, the future of pageantry, which is inclusivity, true inclusivity, that doesn’t marginalize or segregate communities but (all) together shine(s) like a star as one (on) the MGI All-Stars stage.”

Aside from her beauty, business acumen, brains, and confidence, Keylyn’s artistic inclinations and background might serve as her edge once the MGI All-Stars begin. She grew up in a family of artists. Her dad and granddad are painters, while an uncle is an architect and interior designer, to cite a few examples.

Keylyn said she’s into sketching and won gold medals and received awards like artist of the year in inter-school or school competitions in her younger days. “I really see myself as a creative. And when I got into college, I was opened (to) the field of marketing and advertising, which is again all about creativity,” said she.

In these two distinct and yet complementary business practices and communication approaches, as one may say, Keylyn said one creates campaigns, produces concepts or brands and her responsibility is “to provide something out of the box and pageantry is actually out of the box. Every time or every year, it keeps on changing,” added she, “and it’s (like) a perfect field (to me), especially this platform (MGI All-Stars, where I can combine) my artistic desire in presenting myself, (and you know, the chance of) working with the artists like designers and the glam team, and the people who produce this kind of events. It’s really a match made in heaven.”

With that, Keylyn is a strong Pinay delegate and a welcome addition to the country’s delegation for MGI All-Stars. The latter will take place from May 18 to 30 in Bangkok, Thailand.
