John Regala gets discharged from hospital

August 13 ------ After being rushed to the hospital last August 7, Friday, ailing actor John Regala has now been discharged from the hospital. In a Facebook post by entertainment journalist and TV host Aster Amoyo last August 12, she shared that John, who is battling health conditions like liver cirrhosis and gout, was on his way home. She wrote, “After eight days of confinement at the National Kidney and Transplant Institute (NKTI), actor John Regala is now homebound. Praying that he continues to get better everyday. Many thanks to all those who donated and helped John on his way to recovery"

Last month, a netizen posted photos of the former action star and FPJ’s Ang Probinsyano guest actor asking help from strangers along Pasay city. Local barangay officials came to the aid of the actor and it was then discovered that he had been having trouble digesting food because of his health condition. With the help of friends in showbiz like Aster, Nadia Montenegro, and Chuckie Dreyfus, funds were raised to help with John’s medical bills. They have also been posting updates about the actor’s hospitalization and treatment.

John made a name for himself during the 1990s where he starred as the antagonist or anti-hero in most Philippine action movies during that time. John, whose real name is John Paul Guido Boucher Scherrer, first entered showbiz in the 1980s as a part of the iconic teen show That’s Entertainment. He was last seen on primetime television in a guest stint in the top-rated series FPJ’s Ang Probinsyano in 2016. According to John’s friends, they wanted him to stay in the hospital until he fully recovered but the actor wanted to go home already so they respected his wishes.
