July 26 ------ Heaven Peralejo and Jerome Ponce are set to headline the television adaptation of the hit wattpad novel “I Love You Since 1892.” The casting announcement was made on Viva One’s Instagram page. Peralejo and Ponce will be joined by Joseph Marco.
Peralejo will portray Carmela and Carmelita, two different individuals from different timelines who share a striking resemblance, while Ponce takes on the role of Juanito Alfonso, the love interest from the past. Marco, on the other hand, will play Leandro Flores.
The digital series is based on the best-selling historical romance novel by Mia Alfonso. Before ABS-CBN published the book in paperback, the novel first gained popularity online.
At the time, actors Janella Salvador and Marlo Mortel were featured on the book covers, representing the lead characters, Carmela and Juanito. However, earlier this month, Mortel confirmed that he would not be starring in the adaptation. After the readers’ mixed reactions, Alfonso apologized to her supporters that Mortel and Salvador will not portray the main leads, explaining that “some things are beyond one’s control” as she promised that the adaptation would do justice to its original storyline.
Meanwhile, Peralejo is fresh from her Best Actress win for her role in the horror film “Lilim” at the Jinseo Arigato International Film Festival in Japan last month. She is also known for her role as Luna in the teen romantic drama “The Rain in España,” which is also an adaptation of a Wattpad novel. Ponce, on the other hand, last appeared in the thriller action film “Roadkillers,” while Marco is known for his roles in “Wildflower” and “Pasion de Amor.”
