August 19 ------ Dolly de Leon showed her excitement by sharing a few stills from her newest Hollywood movie “Jackpot!” which she said is the first-ever film she shot in the United States. The Filipino actress took to Instagram to share a picture of her character celebrating after being awarded a cheque as the jackpot winner, but in the next slide, de Leon’s character has a shift in emotion, showcasing a dismayed mode.
In a separate post, the “A Very Good Girl” actress shared the film’s official poster, in which she is included. “Jackpot! was the first ever film I shot in Georgia! Actually, in the whole of the U.S., it was an out-of-body experience working with genius Paul Feig, director of my ultimate favorite comedy film, ‘Bridesmaids.’ Not to mention Sean William Scott, whom I would only watch in movies, I got to have the best fun with on set! And what a great crew we had too,” she wrote in her caption.
De Leon’s breakout performance in the international film “Triangle of Sadness” (2022) gained her attention in Hollywood, as she managed to secure nominations from the Golden Globes and BAFTA Awards.
In the 2023 Cinemalaya, de Leon starred in Carl Joseph Papa’s “Iti Mapukpukaw (The Missing),” for which she bagged the Best Supporting Actress trophy. In the same year, the 55-year-old actress also received acclaim for her noteworthy performances in two film entries, “Ghostlight” and “Between the Temples,” in the Sundance Film Festival.
