Catriona Gray joins ‘Angat Buhay’ volunteers in Christmas relief initiative

December 12 ------ Miss Universe 2018 Catriona Gray joined volunteers of Angat Buhay for a day-long repacking drive under the organization’s “Pamaskong Handog: Reverse Caroling” initiative.

Angat Buhay highlighted the joint effort in a social media post on Thursday, Dec. 11, sharing photos of the beauty queen alongside the other volunteers packing goods and loading them into the trucks. “Simula umaga hanggang gabi, nagtulungan ang ating #AngatBayanihan volunteers kasama si Miss Universe 2018 @catriona_gray sa pagre-repack ng Pamaskong Handog para sa Reverse Caroling,” read the caption.

The organization said the initiative aims to deliver Christmas relief packs to families affected by recent disasters in the Philippines. “Taos-puso ang pasasalamat natin sa lahat ng partners, donors, at volunteer organizations na patuloy na nagbibigay-buhay sa ating bayanihan. Dahil sa inyong kabutihan at tiwala, nakakarating ang mga munting regalong ito sa mga pamilyang nangangailangan ng ginhawa ngayong Kapaskuhan,” continued the caption. “Mula sa ating sama-samang pagkilos, nawa’y maging paalala ang mga regalong ito na hindi sila nag-iisa” (From our united efforts, may these gifts remind them that they are not alone),” the organization concluded.

Angat Buhay, founded by former Vice President Leni Robredo, is a volunteer-driven, non-government organization that connects needy communities with private-sector partners with a focus on education, health, disaster relief, and community development. Since October and November, Angat Buhay has been mobilizing teams to respond to successive calamities, including flooding and earthquakes in parts of Luzon and the Visayas.

Gray, meanwhile, who has long used her platform to support education, women’s rights, and disaster response efforts, has consistently partnered with Angat Buhay in community-driven work. The beauty queen recently made headlines as she made known her stand against corruption in government. She earlier delivered a speech at the recently held Trillion Peso March.
