Brit Awards 2021 to go ahead without social-distancing measures, masks, and shields

April 23 ------ The Brits, UK’s flagship music awards ceremony, will go on live next month with 4,000-crowd, no face masks, and no face shield. In a report by CNN, the daring move is part of the government’s events research program on how large events can operate in a post-pandemic situation. To be held at O2 Arena in London on May 11, the event will also be attended by 2,500 frontline workers and 1,500 corporate invitees.

And yes! Guests and attendees won’t have to practice social distancing measures during the music event. “Not only will we be celebrating the brilliant music and artists that have helped us through the pandemic, but we hope it will provide a path for the return of live music that fans and artists have so sorely missed,” Geoff Taylor, the Brit Awards chief executive, told CNN.

Singer Dua Lipa, one of the nominees in this year’s Brit Awards, said that she is delighted for the event. “This has been a long tough year for everyone, and I’m delighted the night will honor the key worker heroes who have cared for us so well during that time and continue to do so,” said Dua Lipa in a press statement. British comedian Jack Whitehall will host the ceremony, the CNN report added.
