Zamboanga Valientes stun Sydney Supersonics for 4th straight 3x3 crown

March 2 ------ Zamboanga Valientes MLV clinched their fourth straight title in the Champions League Basketball (CLB) 3x3 in Australia after toppling the Sydney Supersonics, 17-14, on Saturday, February 27. Led by Eric Miraflores, Zamboanga repeated over the Sonics – a two-time CLB champion and one of the best 3x3 teams in Australia – in the final to nail the CLB 3x3 event in Hamilton. The Valientes made it 4 championships in a row after earlier ruling the 3x3 Christmas Street Hustle in Canberra, the CLB 3x3 in Bendigo, and the CLB 3x3 Portland Open.

Despite missing Ping Concepcion and Coach Junie Navarro, who are both in the Philippines as Zamboanga gears up for the National Basketball League Pilipinas, the Valientes proved to be a formidable team in the CLB. Zamboanga crushed Fades of the Babes, 15-8, in its tournament opener before it stunned the Supersonics, 8-6, and beat the Tech Wool Turkeys, 15-6, on the way to the playoffs. The Valientes then trounced the Melbourne Magic, 15-12, in the semifinal to set up a finals date with the Supersonics.
