Silent Sanctuary announces second concert date after arena show sells out

August 6 ------ OPM band Silent Sanctuary announced an additional date for their sold-out concert, “Gabi ng Lambing,” at SM Mall of Asia Arena this year, expanding it to a two-day concert on Oct. 24 and 25.

The band is composed of members Raymund “Sarkie” Sarangay, Anjo Inacay, Allen Calixto, Kim Mirandilla-Ng, Ronnie Ropal, and Poch Villalon. They’re behind classic OPM hits “Pasensya Ka Na,” “Sa’yo,” and “Kundiman.”

During the press conference, the group said they prepared over two dozen songs to celebrate their 24 years of music. Fans can expect a set list featuring their hits alongside new music. Additionally, their supporters can hear songs they’ve often requested during their gigs but were never performed live.

Joining Silent Sanctuary onstage will be The Manila Symphony Orchestra, Viva Voce, and other surprise guests. The members expressed their excitement over performing beyond their usual band setup with a full orchestra and choir, highlighting how the string section amplifies the emotional depth of their music.

Encouraging new musicians

As a band known for blending rock and orchestral elements, Silent Sanctuary also reflected the thriving classical music scene. They said it is fulfilling to know their music has inspired listeners to take up instruments such as the violin and cello, adding that encouraging people to play music has always been one of their goals.

In addition, they credited their musical director for crafting fresh arrangements for the concert, teasing that each orchestral section would have its own moment to shine. Talking about the sold-out arena concert, they admitted they were surprised by the overwhelming support. They candidly shared that they had been anxious about ticket sales and had even prepared various promotional strategies months leading up to the concert in case demand fell short. But when they learned the concert had sold out within hours, the members felt both relieved and pressured, stating they now hoped to exceed fans’ expectations.

The overwhelming demand also prompted fans online to call for another show date shortly after tickets sold out. Reflecting on the unexpected additional show, the band shared how fortunate they were that what had originally been scheduled as a rehearsal day had become another concert, humorously referring to it as “reverse day two” since Oct. 25 was initially intended to be the only performance.

Milestone Achievement

When asked whether they consider this milestone the peak of their career, the band described the sold-out arena concert as one of their biggest achievements to date. Despite the accomplishment, they said they remained grateful and grounded, adding that their passion for creating music is as strong as ever.

Following this, the members attributed their longevity to their love for their craft, perseverance, and staying inspired to create songs. Furthermore, they emphasized the importance of having candid conversations within the group. The band also shared that being transparent with one another on and off stage has strengthened their rapport over the years. These days, they share that they deeply value everything they have as a Silent Sanctuary. They added that everyone consistently puts the band’s best interests first, extending that same trust and respect to their crew and staff.
