Regine Velasquez to open up about four decades in showbiz, retirement in upcoming documentary

August 6 ------ Asia's Songbird Regine Velasquez-Alcasid is giving fans a deeply personal look at her life and career with "Songbird," a documentary film set to premiere in theaters next year.

The music icon announced the project on Aug. 3 through her official Facebook page. "Songbird" chronicles Regine's journey as she prepares for her highly anticipated "The Finale" concert set on Oct. 17.

A recently dropped preview offers a behind-the-scenes look at Regine during rehearsals with longtime musical director Raul Mitra. In one candid moment, before performing her signature hit "Shine," the singer admits, "I'm actually scared of this," revealing the vulnerability behind one of the country's most celebrated performers.

Interwoven with rehearsal footage are treasured moments from different chapters of her life, including childhood photographs, memories with her late father Mang Gerry, clips from her legendary performances through the years, and family moments with husband Ogie Alcasid and their son Nate.

Fans were quick to express their excitement following the teaser release, with many saying they were already emotional after watching the preview. Others simply shared that the teaser had already brought them to tears, reflecting the lasting connection Regine has built with audiences throughout her career.

The documentary announcement comes on the heels of the overwhelming demand for "The Finale," which has since sold out. A free Oct. 18 show was quickly organized, but all slots were claimed in only nine minutes.
