January 9 ------ ONE of the biggest remaining names in PVL free agency is now off the board, as Ara Galang has landed with the Strong Group Athletics (SGA) stable. With the acquisition of the veteran opposite hitter, SGA has now made 10 player signings this offseason, capped by one of the most decorated and consistent attackers in both the collegiate and professional ranks.
Galang also becomes the 10th former Chery Tiggo player to secure a new league home in less than a month since the Crossovers formally disbanded in December, further thinning the free agent pool ahead of the 2026 season. A preseason silver medalist and Invitational Conference best opposite hitter, Galang is no stranger to abrupt transitions brought about by franchise exits.
Back in 2023, the now-31-year-old was similarly forced to move on after F2 Logistics’ sudden withdrawal from the league, a development that briefly sent shockwaves through the market. It did not take long then for Galang to emerge as one of the most sought-after talents available before being promptly picked up by Chery Tiggo. This offseason followed a familiar script, with nearly every team reportedly expressing interest in acquiring Galang until she ultimately opted to join the Strong Group program.
She is now set to suit up for either one of young league sides Farm Fresh or ZUS Coffee. Her arrival adds not only firepower, but also championship-level experience to an SGA set-up that has aggressively blended proven veterans with young pieces ahead of the new season. Six of the stable's 10 offseason acquisitions came from the now-defunct Chery Tiggo side, headlined by Galang alongside fellow former Crossovers Mylene Paat, Cess Robles, Imee Hernandez, Karen Verdeflor, and Renee Penafiel. Rounding out the group are ex-Petro Gazz mainstays Chie Saet and Remy Palma with former Choco Mucho aces Royse Tubino and Bia General.
