December 2 ------ John Paulo Nase — best known as SB19’s Pablo — has been named as one of the top composers of the year by the Filipino Society of Composers, Authors and Publishers Inc. (FILSCAP). Pablo, along with Jim Paredes, Lito Camo, Rico Blanco and Vehnee Saturno, was recognized by FILSCAP at its thanksgiving party in November, with the awardees’ names revealed on its Facebook page days later.

The non-profit organization also honored ABS-CBN Film Productions Inc. (Star Cinema), GMA Productions Inc., MRU Music Publishing Inc., PolyEast Music Entertainment, and Universal Records as its top publishers.

Meanwhile, Kina’s “Get You the Moon” and Paredes’ “When I Met You” brought home the Top Foreign Work and Top Local Work awards, respectively. “Filipino music continues to rise, evolve, and inspire, and this year proved once again that our creators are the heartbeat of an industry that never stops growing. In celebration of this unwavering spirit, FILSCAP came together to honor the people and works that shaped 2024,” FILSCAP’s post read.

Since SB19’s debut in October 2018, Pablo has served as the group’s chief songwriter and producer. He is one of the minds behind their smash hits “Gento,” “Go Up,” “Mapa,” “DAM,” “DUNGKA!”, “What?” and “Crimzone,” to name a few. He also wrote the songs “Room,” “Anino,” and “surreal (which he co-wrote with his brother Josue as the duo Radkidz),” which served as the solo singles of his bandmates Stell and Justin, respectively.

Pablo made his solo debut in January 2022 with the single “La Luna,” and released his back-to-back albums “Alon” and “Laon” in 2024. FILSCAP is a nonprofit organization that licenses music rights and royalties to businesses and establishments, ensuring that its members, artists, and other personalities from the music industry are well compensated for their work.
