November 13 ------ San Miguel simply had its way offensively and dealt the hapless Titan Ultra a 41-point beating, 158-117, to extend its winning streak to five in the PBA Season 50 Philippine Cup at the Ynares Center Montalban.
The Beermen tore the game apart in the first half with CJ Perez opening the floodgates after firing 24 of 26 his points through the first 24 minutes on their way to the masterful win that hiked their record to 5-2. Perez actually started the scintillating display of firepower for SMB, drilling three fours and two treys in the first half just as June Mar Fajardo, Jericho Cruz and the rest of the Beermen followed suit offensively.
Fajardo recorded his first career triple-double with 12 points, 12 rebounds and 10 assists in just three quarters while Cruz led the SMB bench mob with 24 points. Don Trollano also fired 20 points while Jeron Teng had 15 points, Andreas Cahilig with 11, Mo Tautuaa and Kris Rosales with 10 apiece for the Beermen who led by as many as 50 points.
SMB even breached the century mark as early as the 6:40 mark of the third quarter en route to the league’s highest scoring output for a team at least for the last decade. Von Pessumal listed 21 points to lead the Giant Risers but most of it came when the outcome was seemingly already settled after the Beermen erected a huge 79-38 lead at the half. Joshua Munzon added 20 points and Calvin Abueva also finished with 16 but were not enough as Titan Ultra dropped to a 2-5 slate.
