February 28 ------ Rob Deniel’s love for music started when he and his friends used to join battle-of-the-bands competitions. After the COVID-19 pandemic made him shift into songwriting, it turned out to be the path that would lead him to headline his first solo concert.

Deniel is gearing up for his first solo concert, “The Rob Deniel” show, later this evening at the Araneta Coliseum. The show is a culmination of his growing success in the music scene and of his status as one of the potential leaders of the new generation of OPM. Pero ‘yun ang feeling ko na noong una, ang sabi sa akin [na magkakaroon akong sariling concert], natakot ako siyempre,” he said in a media con for the upcoming show.

Deep inside, the singer-songwriter knew that he could headline a concert on his own. He just needed time to allow the milestone to sink in. It’s a matter of time bago mag sink in na magpeperform ako nang walang kasama. Nakakatakot but nae-excite ako para mag-explore ng iba’t ibang bagay sa stage para makita nila kung sino si Rob Deniel,” he said.

After all, Deniel never planned to take music seriously. It was something he and his friends did for fun, although he enjoyed writing his own songs. The pandemic made him and his friends lose a lot of opportunities to compete in bands, but that didn’t stop him from learning the ropes of the industry on his own.
