MANILA, January 17 ------ Two Filipino films are going to have their international premiere at the 76th Berlinale next month in Germany.
Actor Elijah Canlas, through a social media post, announced that his film "Rumaragasa (Raging)" will premiere at the Berlinale Panorama section on February 12-22.
"One of the toughest yet most rewarding journeys I’ve had working on a film for sure. Extremely honored to be an actor and co-producer for this. Will forever treasure the magical experience of Sibuyan Island. Congratulations, direk Ryan at sa lahat ng bumubuo ng Raging! Forever grateful for each of you. Patuloy sana tayo lumaban sa lahat ng uri ng abuso. Patuloy sana tayo maging mabuti sa kapwa at kalikasan," Canlas wrote. “Raging,” an entry at the 21st Cinemalaya Philippine Independent Film Festival, was directed by Ryan Machado. It tells not only the traumatic story of Eli, but also the environmental abuse.
Another Filipino film that will have its world premiere at Berlinale Panorama is "Enjoy Your Stay" starring Mercedes Cabral and co-directed by Dominik Locher and Filipino screenwriter Honeylyn Joy Alipio. Also part of the film about an undocumented Filipino worker who's facing the threat of losing custody of her daughter are Anna Luna, Hasmine Killip, Irma Adlawan, Donna Cariaga, Madeleine Nicolas, and others.
