But of course, Filipino content creators will surely find a way to showcase our very own culture and traditions to the world. Here comes the “Piliin Mo ang Pilipinas” or Choose the Philippines makeup challenge, inspired by Angeline Quinto's song for the Choose Philippines tourism campaign.
Highlighted here are various places in the country and our own culture. But the presentation is leveled up, complete with smooth costumes and makeup transitions! The popular content creator, Whamos, showcased Filipino workers. Kapitana showcased Filipino festivals. Actress Ivana Alawi portrayed Maria Clara and quickly garnered over 36 million views in just one week. Content creator Shaha Meta showcased Mindanao's culture and colors! According to Meta, it took more than fourteen hours to make the video, but in the end, her princess-like beauty couldn't be denied. “I wanted to share Mindanao’s rich heritage and traditions through that video in hopes that we can all appreciate different cultures, fostering unity and respect among people of diverse backgrounds… The team's effort was really amazing, it took us 14 to 15 hours of work… Thank you shout out to you, Mary Claire, Anne, Vincent, Jaja, Paragas, and of course to Queen Isabelas," said Meta. The “Marites of the TikTok world” Magdalena Fox, had a unique approach. She showcased witches, traditional tattoo artists, and folk healers, which are also a big part of Filipino culture. “Yung iba pagandahan, e wala naman ako doon, so naisip ko, mga mangkukulam, apo whang od, albularyo, na magpa hanggang ngayon talaga, nag-eexist siya sa atin so part siya ng kultura ng Pilipinong Pinoy… Siyempre eksenadora ang lola mo, dopat maiba tayo!” said Fox.
According to the content creators, this is their way of showcasing our culture not only to fellow Filipinos but to the whole world. "Be proud, be proud really, embrace and celebrate our rich and diverse culture with kindness and love," said Meta.
