PH Navy sends off contingent for its first naval exercise in India

MANILA, February 9 ------ For the first time, the Philippine Navy will participate in the 3rd International Fleet Review (IFR26) hosted by the Indian Navy and the Multilateral Naval Exercise (MILAN) 2026.
Rear Admiral Peter Jempsun V De Guzman PN, Acting Commander, Naval Defense Command, led the send-off of the contingent before setting sail in Visakhapatnam, India. The Philippine Navy will be represented by the lead ship of the Malvar Class Guided Missile Frigate, BRP Miguel Malvar (FFG06), with Captain Paul Michael P Hechanova PN(GSC), as the Commander, Naval Task Group 80.5.
The International Fleet Review 2026 serves as a platform for participating navies to exchange views and strengthen cooperation in support of peace, stability, and development in the Indo-Pacific region. On the other hand, MILAN 2026 is a multilateral naval exercise aimed at enhancing interoperability and operational coordination among participating navies.
In a statement, the Philippine Navy said its participation in the International Fleet Review and Multilateral Exercise MILAN 2026 reflects their steadfast commitment to international cooperation, maritime peace, and regional stability.
