Nikki Valdez on healing from a heartbreak: 'Allow the pain first'

September 11 ------ Not every breakup ends with tears or resentment. Sometimes, people simply realize that their relationship has come to an end. As part of Teatro Kapamilya's upcoming stage play, “The Art of Breaking Up," Kapamilya actress Nikki Valdez shared her sentiments when it comes to recovering from a breakup.

"Dati nung hindi pa ako masyadong natututo sa mga break-ups ko, I would think that jumping to the next relationship would be the best answer. Akala ko the next person would make me happy," Nikki shared during a recent Star Magic Spotlight press conference. Recalling her past relationships and what she learned from them, Nikki highlighted that experience is the best key to who she is now as a mom and a wife. "I have to thank yung pain na naranasan ko from my past relationship because ang dami niyang tinuro sa akin, and I wouldn't be the strong person now kung hindi ko naranasan yung mga yun," she added.

Nikki concluded that embracing the pain and learning from the experience are key to healing from heartbreak. "Allow the pain first, acknowledge it. Allow your journey na maranasan yun lahat yun and then learn from it kasi wala naman ibang makakatulong sayo kundi ang sarili mo," she said.

Playing the role of Lou, Nikki explained why the upcoming play involves a huge cast. "Kaya marami kami; it comes in vignettes, 'yung ipi-feature niya 'yung per story of a breakup, but the characters are somehow connected. Basta maganda siya, 'yung web ng characters," she said. "The Art of Breaking Up," written by the late George de Jesus III and directed by Dudz Teraña, will run from November 6 to December 6, 2026, at the PETA Theater Center.
