Neneng accelerates, likely to weaken into remnant low Thursday

August 20 ------ Tropical Depression Neneng accelerated, moving northwest at 30 km. per hour (kph), the weather bureau said on Thursday. It was located 390 km. north of Itbayat, Batanes at 4 a.m.
The cyclone packs maximum sustained winds of 45 kph near the center, and gustiness of up to 55 kph. No wind signal is hoisted on any part of the country, the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) said.
However, most of Luzon and Visayas, Zamboanga Peninsula, Northern Mindanao, and Davao Region will experience strong gale-force gusts due to the enhanced southwest monsoon or habagat.
Rough seas could prevail over the seaboards Batanes; the northern and western seaboards of Babuyan Islands; seaboards of Ilocos Norte; seaboards of Ilocos Sur, La Union, and Zambales; western seaboard of Pangasinan; and the northern seaboard of Kalayaan Islands.
PAGASA advised mariners of motorbancas and similarly sized vessels to take precautionary measures while venturing to the sea.
Meanwhile, PAGASA forecast Neneng to weaken into weaken into a remnant low in the next 12 hours.
