MANILA, October 26 ------ "Multwoh," a queer romance-horror film, has become the highest-grossing film to emerge from the Puregold CinePanalo Film Festival, the film’s team said.

In a Facebook post, the film's team thanked audiences for their support as the movie entered its first weekend of nationwide screenings. However, the team did not disclose the film's box-office earnings. The team also mentioned "100M" in its post but said it stood for "100 Multwoh," an expression of gratitude.

"Honestly, surreal pa rin ang lahat. We started as a little queer indie film in Puregold CinePanalo, hoping our story would find its people. And look at us now," the team wrote. "Because of your unwavering support, Multwoh became the highest-grossing film in the three-year history of the Puregold CinePanalo Film Festival," it added.

The team, led by director Rod Singh, said the milestone "is an honor we will carry with us for the rest of our lives." "This is the kind of legacy we once could only hope for."

The team expressed hope that the nationwide screenings, which run until October 27, would prove "that stories like 'Multwoh' deserve to be seen, celebrated, and brought to more people." Starring Sassa Gurl and Joao Constancia, "Multwoh" follows a college student who dies and returns as a ghost to confess their unexpressed romantic feelings to their crush.
