Maris Racal, Odette Khan lead 49th Gawad Urian nominees

September 2 ------ Maris Racal and veteran actress Odette Khan lead the Best Actress race at the 49th Gawad Urian Awards, which is set to hold its awarding ceremony in October. Racal earned a Best Actress nomination for the film “Sunshine,” while Khan was recognized for her performance in “Bar Boys: After School.”

They will compete in the category alongside Krystel Go of “I’mPerfect,” Ruby Ruiz of “Tigkiliwi,” Nour Hooshmand of “Cinemartyrs,” EJ Jallorina of “Dreamboi,” Geraldine Villamil “Republika ng Pipolipinas,” and Rissey Reyes-Robinson “Paglilitis.”

Meanwhile, the race for the Best Supporting Actress come between Dolly de Leon for “Habang Nilalamon ng Hydra ang Kasaysayan,” Alessandra de Rossi for “Republika ng Pipolipinas,” Elora Españo for “Lakambini: Gregoria de Jesus,” Jennica Garcia for “Sunshine”, Gina Pareño for “Lakambini: Gregoria de Jesus,” Rochelle Pangilinan for “Child No. 82,” and Eula Valdez for “Paglilitis.”
