October 13 ------ “A Perfect Marriage,” the drama film starring Kim Chiu and Paulo Avelino completes the Metro Manila Film Festival’s (MMFF) “Magic 8,” or its official lineup that would compete in its 52nd edition.

The second batch of movie entries was unveiled during ceremonies held on Monday at the Shangrila Plaza Mall in Mandaluyong, hosted by Kaladkaren and Enchong Dee.

Aside from “A Perfect Marriage,” the three other finalists are: “Los Salvajes Bravos,” starring Ruru Madrid and Romnick Sarmenta; “Little Hope,” starring Yassi Pressman and Pepe Herrera; and “Seeds of Peace,” starring Zaijian Jaranilla.

These films comprise the second batch of movies that will be participating in the festival, which will open in cinemas on December 25. The first batch was announced in July with the following films: “2nd Miracle in Cell No. 7” starring Aga Muhlach and Jodi Sta. Maria; “Amir” with Dennis Trillo and Glaiza de Castro; “Haunted Carnival” with Julia Barreto and James Reid; and, “The Greatest Showdown” with Vice Ganda and Vic Sotto.

Parade of Stars

This year’s MMFF will also feature several activities that lead to the festival week, including the traditional Parade of Stars on December 19.

The parade, which showcases the colorful motorcade of of the films’ themed floats bearing cast celebrities, would traverse the streets of Mandaluyong and San Juan, which are the host cities of this year’s edition. At the event, Mandaluyong Mayor Menchie Abalos discussed the route of the parade, which would start at the Open Canal along San Francisco St., near the City Hall on Maysilo Circle. It would turn right on Boni Avenue (Edsa side) going to Barangka Drive.

“Left sa Barangka Drive, and then left sa Nueve de Febrero, na medyo makitid ang kalye at the same time andon yung density ng tao. And then right sa Boni Avenue (going to Manila side), right at New Panaderos, straight to Gen. Kalentong and F. Manalo in San Juan… right to N. Domingo, A. Paterno, Santolan and then we end at Pinaglabanan Shrine, San Juan,” she said, adding there there will be a sort of passing of torch to San Juan Mayor Francis Zamora at the city boundaries in Kalentong. “So ayan po ang ruta namin kaya huwag kayo umiwas dumaan ng Mandaluyong. Panoorin po natin lahat ang ating mga float dahil alam kong masisiyahan naman tayong lahat na manonood,” she added.

A separate parade will also be held on Dec. 12 in Bacolod City, the first province that partnered with the Metro Manila Development Authority for MMFF.
