Kai Sotto stakes claim to starting spot as Adelaide 36ers win again


December 20 ------ KAI Sotto continued to impress as a starter as Adelaide 36ers fended off the Tasmania JackJumpers, 93-82, in the 2022-23 NBL season on Monday at Adelaide Entertainment Centre.


The Filipino center started for the second straight game and notched nine points, three rebounds, two blocks, and one assist to help the home team nab back-to-back wins. Antonius Cleveland paced the 36ers with 20 points on 4-of-9 shooting from deep, to go with 10 boards, while Anthony Drmic came off the bench and scored 16 points. Sunday Dech chimed in 12 points and two boards, and Robert Franks had 11 points, five rebounds, and two assists as the 36ers went back to .500 at 8-8.


The 36ers saved their best for last, staging a 24-7 finishing kick to stay unscathed in the second of this four-game homestand. Adelaide tries to keep this streak going with a game against the South East Melbourne Phoenix on Christmas Eve next Saturday.


Milton Doyle topscored for Tasmania with 18 points and six boards in the loss. Josh Magette chimed in 13 points, six assists, and two rebounds, while Isaac White had 12 points, three boards, and two dimes.
