Julia Montes is ‘happy with life’ after confirming romance with Coco Martin

August 11 ------ Months after her 12-year romance with Coco Martin was confirmed, Julia Montes said she’s “happy” with life, as she wanted to focus on the blessings she has been receiving so far.

Without disclosing Martin’s name, Montes spoke about not rushing with their relationship during an interview with Push, which was uploaded on its YouTube channel last Monday, Aug. 7. The topic was brought up after she was asked about their relationship being confirmed to the public. “Nag-announce ba kami? Parang wala naman (Did we announce anything? It looks like nothing happened),” she said in response before laughing. “Happy lang ako sa life. Siguro masasabi ko lahat ng nangyayari sa buhay ko, never kong ine-expect and never kong ini-imagine na ganun ‘yung mangyayari when it comes to… in general, sa work, sa life, lahat ng mga dini-dreams ko, more than pa sa mga nangyayari. Super thankful and I’m very happy talaga,” she further added.

The actress then noted that she wants to “enjoy the journey,” although she didn’t disclose what kind of journey she was referring to in the interview. “Siguro enjoy lang muna ‘yung journey ng whatever blessing na dumadating ngayon. D’un lang talaga ako nagfo-focus,” she said. “No rush with everything basta focus on what blessing na binigay ngayon for this year, for whatever moment na nandito ngayon.”

Martin confirmed his relationship with the “Asintado” star last May 2023, when they were asked about the status of their romance during a screening for the GMA-ABS-CBN “Unbreak My Heart.” “Napakasarap ng pakiramdam namin dahil 12 years na kaming magkasama, pero pareho pa rin tulad ng dati. Nilo-look forward namin kapag may project na magkasama kami and then kapag may pagkakataon, nakakalabas kami, nakikita kami ng mga tao pero name-maintain namin ang privacy sa buhay namin (It feels so nice because we’ve been together for 12 years, but things are still the same. We look forward to projects where we’re together and moments where we can go out, and see other people. But we want to maintain our privacy),” he said.

While the couple didn’t disclose when their relationship started, the actor’s revelation means that their romance began in 2011. The real-life sweethearts worked in several projects prior to their confirmation including “Walang Hanggan,” “Wansapanataym: Yamashita’s Treasures,” “Ikaw Lamang,” and “A Moment in Time,” among others.
