November 13 ------ Jodi Sta. Maria pondered on the Filipinos in light of the recent calamities, stressing how the public should demand more from those who are meant to protect them. The actress spoke about this while showing roads and damaged houses submerged in floodwaters after the typhoons, through her Instagram page.
Written on the photos are the sentences, “Even in the storm, you showed grace just by getting through the day. Not every strength looks like bravery. Sometimes, it’s simply holding on.” “But healing is not forgetting. Healing is remembering and demanding better. Resilience has limits. We can’t keep surviving what could have been prevented,” it further read. “Let this be the storm that changed not just the weather.”
Sta. Maria then highlighted in her caption the resiliency among Filipinos and how they show up for each other, especially during hard times. “But this shouldn’t be our only story,” she underscored. “Most of the time I can’t help but ask... was it the intensity of the typhoon? Pwede kayang hindi ganito kalala? Kasi taon-taon naman tayong binabagyo. Or was it the failure of those who were meant to protect us? What part did we play in this?” she continued.
Sta. Maria then extended her wish for the healing of the victims of the recent calamities. “We deserve better,” she continued. “And to those who could’ve done more to prevent this…may this be your wake-up call.”
