MANILA, Philippines, April 8 ------ A few weeks after their departure from Team Lakay, former world champions Eduard Folayang and Joshua Pacio look to begin their training overseas.
Folayang, who left Team Lakay at the beginning of the month, confirmed his stay in the United States to train until May. Joining him in overseas training is fellow Filipino Pacio, who left the Baguio-based stable just a few days after Folayang’s exit. Both fighters also flew to the US for ONE Fight Night 10 at 1stBank Center in Broomfield, Colorado on May 5. It will be ONE’s first event in the United States.
“This is undoubtedly an important milestone in ONE history. I believe there’s more to come after this,” Folayang said. “I may not be slated on the card to compete, but I will still have a once-in-a-lifetime chance to be part of history. I’m looking forward to enjoying the festivities during fight week,” Pacio said.
Both fighters are looking to regain momentum in the MMA ring after suffering defeats in their respective last outings. Pacio succumbed to Jarred Brooks last December at ONE 164 while Folayang also absorbed a defeat in the same month against Edson Marques at ONE on Prime Video 5.
ONE Fight Night 10 will be headlined by Demetrious Johnson and Adriano Moraes’ third match for the flyweight strap. Rodtang Jitmuangnon will also be defending his flyweight Muay Thai world championship against Edgar Tabares while Mikey Musumeci will try to extend his streak as the ONE flyweight Submission Grappling world champion against Osamah Almarwai.
