August 1 ------ Filipino actress Dolly de Leon is set to star in a new Hollywood series. As per report by Deadline, the Golden Globe-nominated actress will be starring in the upcoming dark comedy thriller show on Apple TV+ titled Maximum Pleasure Guaranteed. Dolly will portray the role of Detective Sofia Gonzalez in the series.
The 10-episode show follows "Paula (Tatiana Maslany), a newly divorced mom who falls down a dangerous rabbit hole of blackmail, murder, and youth soccer," according to the report. In a press release by Apple TV+ back in February, it was reported that the series will be written and executive produced by creator and showrunner David J. Rosen, with David Gordon Green serving as director and executive producer. Dolly previously starred in her first Hollywood series, Nine Perfect Strangers, alongside Nicole Kidman.
In a previous interview with ABS-CBN News, Dolly recalled the moment she was offered the role of Agnes, a former nun, in Nine Perfect Strangers. "Binasa ko 'yung script and I fell in love with the character immediately and that's primarily also why I said yes it. I love my character. Her name is Agnes, dating siya madre, pumasok siya sa wellness center ni Nicole Kidman para mag self-healing," she said.
The series was filmed over six months, from January to June of the previous year, in Munich, Germany and in Austria. Dolly remarked that working with Nicole, who is not only the lead star but also one of the producers of the show, was a surreal yet rewarding experience. "She's super nice, warm and friendly. Hindi ko akalain na for someone with that stature, but hindi. She's very accessible, she's so much fun on the set, very in the moment siya when we're doing our scenes together," the actress relayed.
Dolly was nominated for Best Actress in a Supporting Role at the British Academy Film Awards in 2022 and Best Supporting Actress in a Motion Picture at the Golden Globe Awards in 2023 for her performance in Triangle of Sadness.
