November 15 ------ Chadwick Boseman is set to be honored with a posthumous star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame in Los Angeles on November 20. Variety reported Boseman will be awarded the 2,828th star in the Motion Pictures category next week, as part of 2024’s class of honorees.

Boseman’s widow, Simone Ledward-Boseman, will accept the honor on his behalf. The morning ceremony will include speeches from “Black Panther” director Ryan Coogler and actress Viola Davis, the actor’s “Ma Rainey’s Black Bottom” co-star.

Boseman, who died of colon cancer in 2020 at the age of 43, rose to fame as King T’Challa in “Black Panther” (2018), the first billion-dollar blockbuster led by a predominantly Black cast. Within the Marvel Cinematic Universe, the late actor also appeared in “Captain America: Civil War, ” “Avengers: Infinity War,” and “Avengers: Endgame.” Boseman is also known for his portrayals of historic figures such as baseball legend Jackie Robinson in “42” (2013) and soul singer James Brown in “Get on Up” (2014).

Boseman last appeared as Levee Green in “Ma Rainey’s Black Bottom,” for which he received a Golden Globe and a SAG Award for Best Actor, as well as an Oscar nomination. The announcement of Boseman’s honor came after actresses Naomi Watts and Lauren Graham received their respective stars on the Walk of Fame.
