September 28 ------ Carla Abellana is now being called the internet's Patron Saint for Concerned Citizens, and the Kapuso actress has shared that she feels flattered by the label.
In "Fast Talk with Boy Abunda," she shared that she finds it amusing how Filipinos can be so creative coming up with such titles."Paano nila naiisip or how do they come up with such titles? Pero I guess in a way medyo flattered kasi nabibigyan po ng title, ng pansin in a way, so for me parang laughing matter siya," she said.
Carla has been openly calling out issues in government and private service providers through her social media accounts, and her frustrations and sentiments have resonated with netizens. Per the actress, she reacts to certain issues when she is directly affected by them. "Ako po as long as I'm affected by it or it hits me personally, parang I feel involved or I feel like I'm affected by it directly in some way, that's when I really parang lumalabas po kasi talaga 'yung frustration, galit, 'yung helplessness," she explained.
And while she admitted that she has not always been this vocal, she noted that her frustrations have compelled her to finally speak up about the issues that concern her. "Quiet lang po ako hindi po ako 'yung nangingialam or what. Kaya siguro 'yung frustration na rin Tito Boy kasi talagang 'yun po 'yung trigger eh because parang I feel like it's about time I used my voice, enough na po 'yung pagiging tahimik. If you want to prove a certain point, if it really affects you in a certain way, speak up about it na po," she said.
On receiving backlash from netizens
During her guesting, Carla also acknowledged that there is a price to pay for being vocal online. She shared that she receives negative comments from netizens, while some would dig up information about her past relationship.
However, she believes that this reaction from netizens is normal and is part of the risk of sharing her frustrations online. "It's part of the risk that you take na talagang hindi po lahat mag-a-agree with you. Of course may magagalit po, may mag re-react negatively, hindi po maiiwasan 'yun and I guess sanay na rin po ako because of our industry na talagang ultimo 'yung mga wala na pong kinalaman from the past, hinahalungkat po nila, ibabalik po nila, gagamitin nila," she said. "Honestly, to me it's nothing. Part po siya, parang ganun po, ready po ako just in case," she added.
