Brownlee, Tamayo, Edu, KQ to miss Gilas' first Monday practice

July 7 ------ JUSTIN Brownlee, Kevin Quiambao, Carl Tamayo, and AJ Edu will not be around for Gilas Pilipinas when it begins its buildup today at the Upper Deck gym. Gilas team manager Alfrancis Chua confirmed the absence of Brownlee, Quiambao, and Tamayo but assured that the three will be on board in the next Monday practice.
Meanwhile, Gilas coach Tim Cone said Brownlee and Edu will be arriving on Tuesday to join the national team practices in preparation for the FIBA Asia Cup 2025 in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia. Quiambao is currently in Sacramento to work out in a bid to make it to the NBA Summer League. It will be a busy next few days for Cone as he will supervise Gilas Pilipinas practice while Barangay Ginebra heads toa Game Seven against San Miguel in the PBA Philippine Cup semifinals.
Incidentally, San Miguel players June Mar Fajardo and Cjay Perez are also expected to attend Gilas practices while preparing for Game 7 against Cone and Ginebra on Wednesday at the Smart-Araneta Coliseum. Ginebra’s Scottie Thompson, Japeth Aguilar, and Jamie Malonzo are part of the Gilas pool that was formed by Cone.
