'Better every year': BINI puts on a show at Star Magic All Star Games

MANILA, June 4 ------ OPM girl group BINI stole the show during the 2024 Star Magic All Star Games -- first when they arrived to watch member Mikha Lim compete in volleyball, and again when they performed at the halftime of the main game.

This is the third year in a row that BINI has performed at the annual sports showcase. The OPM group has experienced a meteoric rise in popularity in the past few months and their impact on the crowd was obvious. "Sobrang nakakagulat po talaga 'yung crowd ngayon sa Araneta and we're very grateful. We're very excited to perform in front of them sa Araneta and do the special 360 that we do sometimes," Lim said backstage, before they performed their hits "Karera" and "Pantropiko."

Lim was the clear fan favorite during the volleyball game, where she won Best Setter honors. The fans at the Araneta Coliseum grew boisterous when the other BINI members arrived to watch her midway through the match between the Lady Setters and the Lady Spikers. "Grateful po ako, super grateful. Minsan nakakahiya. Nahihiya po ako kasi I'm not used to it. It's so amazing how the Blooms support us, how much they love us," said Lim.

For BINI leader Jhoanna Robles, the experience gives them another reason to be thankful. "Siyempre thankful po kami dahil hindi po nagsasawa sa amin ang management na mag-perform. Kasi third time na rin po  namin mag-perform sa Star Magic [Games]. Ang exciting lang makita na nadagdagan ang family natin," she said. It's also a chance to show fans just how much they have grown as performers since they first appeared at the Star Magic All Star Games. "Of course every year, we aim for excellence. Gusto namin every year, may something new and gusto namin mas better kami every year," said Maloi Ricalde.

June is shaping up to be a month to remember for BINI, as they are set to celebrate their third anniversary by launching their official website and merchandise, holding "BINI Day" on June 11, and putting on their three-day "BINIverse" concert from June 28-30 at the New Frontier Theater.
