Beermen rally to down Meralco for 3rd straight win

October 29 ------ Mo Tautuaa scored 23 points, as San Miguel Beer came back from a double-digit 2nd-half deficit to beat Meralco 89-82 in the 2020 PBA Philippine Cup on Wednesday at AUF Sports Arena in Angeles City, Pampanga.

The Beermen, who have won 3 straight, raised their record to 4-2, while the Bolts dropped to 3-3. Meralco went on a 15-2 run in the third quarter to go up 67-54 and enter the fourth quarter ahead by 9 points. But San Miguel responded with a 17-2 run straddling the third and fourth quarters to regain the upper hand 74-71, a rally capped by Von Pessumal's 3-pointer at the 9:18 mark of the fourth.

After Meralco forward Reynel Hugnatan's basket cut San Miguel's lead to 86-82 near the last 2 minutes, the Bolts couldn't score anymore, with Chris Ross' 3-pointer with 19 seconds left pegging the final tally.

Arwind Santos added 17 points, 11 rebounds and 2 steals to go with 3 3-pointers, Ross chipped in 12 points and 5 steals, while Marcio Lassiter had 12 points and 3 steals for San Miguel. Baser Amer finished with 17 points to lead Meralco.
