Barbie Forteza donates P100,000 to help Cebu earthquake victims

October 6 ------ Barbie Forteza extended help to Cebuanos, particularly children, affected by the magnitude-6.9 earthquake by donating P100,000 to be used for relief operations. The actress’s act of generosity was shared by the non-governmental organization Save the Children Philippines, of which she is an ambassador, through its Instagram page.

“Children in Cebu are still reeling from the earthquake and aftershocks, with some forced to sleep outside in the rain. To support urgent relief and children’s education, Sparkle GMA actress and Save the Children Philippines Ambassador Barbie Forteza donated P100,000 for our response and called on the public to help children in need,” it said. “Thank you, Barbie, for standing [for and with children] in this difficult time,” the group added.

In a statement also shared by the NGO, Forteza expressed concern for the children in Cebu and hoped more people would come together to aid them. “Children have the right to protection and education, even in the most difficult circumstances. I hope more people will come together to support the children of Northern Cebu, because they deserve to feel safe, cared for, and hopeful again,” she was quoted as saying.
