B.League: Parks, Osaka sweep Levanga; Kai, Wright, Edu absorb losses

October 29 ------ Ray Parks Jr. and Osaka Evessa imposed their might on Levanga Hokkaido during their pair of meetings in the 2024-25 season of the Japan B.League over the weekend. Parks Jr. continued his stellar play for Osaka as they defeated Levanga 91-79, and 90-84, at the Ookini Arena Maishama.

The former National University star had 27 points, six assists, four steals, and two rebounds in their first meeting, while he followed it with a 19-point, four-rebound, four-assist outing on top of two steals and a block the following day. This pushed his team's standing to 6-3, good for third in the Western Division, while Levanga, who did not see Dwight Ramos play due to a did-not-play (DNP), fell to 2-7, sixth in the Eastern Division.

Also without a win over the weekend were Kai Sotto and the Koshigaya Alphas. Despite Kai putting up an impressive 18-point, 18-rebound game with four rejections and three assists, he and the Alphas fell against the Sendai 89ers, 87-78, on Saturday at the Kamei Arena Sendai.

The following day was not also kind to the 7-foot-3 behemoth as they were dealt with the same result at the same venue following their 73-63 loss. Sotto was limited to six points, 13 rebounds, and three assists in that faceoff. They fell to 1-8, eighth in the Eastern Division. AJ Edu was the next Filipino import who had consecutive defeats in the same span of days. Edu and his Nagasaki Velca succumbed to the Chiba Jets, 82-50 on Saturday, and 79-75 yesterday at the Happiness Arena.

The 6-foot-10 big man was limited to only a rebound in their 32-point loss, and he went on to up his digits to 10 points, 11 rebounds, an assist, and a block the following day. Unfortunately for Nagasaki, they are now at 5-4, fourth in the Western Division. Meanwhile, Matthew Wright only appeared in one game in the weekend games, but he was not spared from the Filipinos who added tallies to their number of defeats. Wright and the Kawasaki Brave Thunders were defeated by the Gunma Crane Thunders, 75-68, at the Kawasaki Todoroki Arena on Saturday. He had 15 markers, three boards, three dimes, and a steal but they failed to defend their homecourt and now settle at No.8 in the Central Division with a 2-7 record.

On the other hand, Roosevelt Adam's Yamagata Wyverns also faltered in their latest game as they bowed down to the Aomori Wat's on Sunday, 103-76, at the Mutsu Maeda Arena. Adams was a DNP in the game wherein they fell to 3-6, sixth in the Eastern Division.
