Atasha Muhlach: This year's 'It Girl' blazes on to 2024

December 22 ------ Atasha Muhlach — daughter of celebrity power couple Charlene Gonzales and Aga Muhlach — has quickly become the latest sensation in the entertainment industry. She's got it all, as they say: beauty, brains, and undeniable charm.

The 22-year-old rose to stardom with a memorable debut at the prestigious Le Bal des Débutantes in November 2022. The annual event in Paris, known for featuring young women from notable families worldwide, set the stage for her entrance into the limelight. But more than just a beautiful face, Muhlach is a woman of substance. To begin with, she graduated with honors and a Bachelor of Arts in Business from Nottingham Trent University in the United Kingdom last July.

Transitioning seamlessly from university life to the glitz and glam of showbiz, she officially signed as a talent under Viva Artist Agency not long after finishing college. Now dubbed the next-generation It Girl, Muhlach wasted no time making her presence felt, making her mark in fashion magazines, social media, and most recently on TV. In September, she took on a new role as one of the newest Dabarkads on TVJ's noontime show, "E.A.T." on TV5. With her infectious energy and undeniable charm, Muhlach has earned praise from her co-hosts and the audience despite being a newbie in showbiz. And yet, with all these compliments, she remains humble, attributing her success to the welcoming environment provided by her colleagues, especially those on E.A.T. "The Dabarkads made me feel at home, and they are so nice. I really can't begin to explain how nice they are to me. They make me feel like they're family – you eat and talk with them, and they really help you so much. From Day 1, they made me feel as comfortable as possible, and I can't thank them enough for that. I'm so grateful to have started my journey with them," Muhlach said in an interview following her launch as the newest endorser of Jollibee and its Coffee Blends line.

She is especially grateful to comedian-host Jose Manalo for teaching her to speak better Filipino: "Because of Mayor Jose, I'm able to have Tagalog lessons. Being around the Dabarkads and working with them daily is a significant factor in why I'm learning a lot. I even converse with my father in Tagalog now." With many noticing her jolly and hilarious personality when hosting, Muhlach quickly credits her father, Aga, again for passing on this trait to her. "My dad and I are pretty much the same. I inherited my funny side from my dad, really. He always tells me, though, that I still have a lot to learn, but of course, it's normal, and I am willing to learn and make mistakes. I'm just really happy that people are really forgiving about them," admitted Muhlach. "My parents always tell me that I shouldn't be scared and to always give it my best and put in the work. I am game to do anything, and I will always try my best to do everything I can to the best of my abilities and, more importantly, have fun. This is all new to me, after all," she added. Keeping herself grounded along the way, too, Muhlach said, "With all this attention, I feel really grateful, but it doesn't really feel like [being a star]. Everything feels normal because I still have so much to learn. I need to go through a lot more. I'm just really grateful for what I'm doing now and where I'm at. I'm so excited for the future and what it holds for me on this journey."

Finally, when asked if there is a chance for her to go into pageantry just like her mom, who was crowned Miss Universe Philippines in 1994, she replied, "I'm not going to close my doors. I'm learning this process of being an artist first now. I want to develop those skills, but let's see where it goes." Always one to acknowledge how she admires her mother, Muhlach said, "My mom is beautiful inside and out, and I really look up to my mother. She's someone that I really praise, but as [to pageantry], I don't know yet. We'll see; I just need to master my craft with hosting and then, eventually, acting, singing."
