MANILA, June 7 ------ Filmmakers, producers, actors and other industry colleagues attended the first networking event of the Asian Academy Creative Awards (AACA) in Manila.
TV and film director Ruel Bayani, also ABS-CBN’s Head of International Productions, is currently the Philippine Ambassador of the award-giving body and hosted the event.
Founder and President of the AACA and International Emmy awardee Michael McKay facilitated the round table discussion with some of the country’s content providers, producers and industry leaders. On stage, Bayani was joined by Film Development Council of the Philippines (FDCP) chairman Jose Javier Reyes, VIU Head of Content Garlic Garcia, Regal Entertainment CEO Roselle Monteverde and founder of LA-based Breakthrough Now! Rosemond Perdue. Members of the panel shared how the film and TV industry in the Philippines are working and collaborating to survive the challenges of the new age of streaming.
Past recipients and winners of the AACA were also present during the event such as Arjo Atayde (2020 Grand Final Winner Best Actor in a Lead Role for ‘Bagman’), Dimples Romana (Member of the Jury), Rico Hizon (2023 Grand Final Winner Best News Anchor and Best Current Affairs Anchor) and Cathy Yang (2019 Grand Final Winner Best News ro Current Affairs Presenter).
AACA President McKay also invited networks, content and film producers to submit their entries for the 2024 AACA Awards. Eligibility for entries covers the period of August 1, 2023 to July 31, 2024.
