July 22 ------ ALEX Eala made it a double celebration at the W100 Vitoria-Gasteiz in Spain, taking the women’s singles title less than 24 hours after claiming the women’s doubles championship. Eala drubbed Andorran Victoria Jimenez Kasinteva, 6-4, 6-4, to complete her romp in the hard surface and wrap up her first career titles at a W100 tournament.

The victory is set to push Eala further up the WTA rankings, just days after reaching a career-best No. 155 in the world in singles. On Saturday, Eala and French partner Estelle Cascino beat Lia Karatancheva and Diana Marcinkevica, 6-3, 2-6, 10-4, for the doubles title.

The 19-year-old had to overcome a tough challenge from the Andorran as she broke a 4-4 deadlock in Set 2. Eala converted a crucial break point in Game 9 to take the 5-4 lead on the way to her fifth singles title overall in the ITF circuit.
