MANILA, Philippines, January 13 ------ Alden Richards is among the local tinseltown’s eligible bachelors and resident dreamboats. It doesn’t limit him in what roles to take on. He can disappear in and “deglamorize” himself for a portrayal. The Sparkle GMA Artist Center actor will be seen as a medical practitioner in the primetime TV series “Code Gray.” What also complements his charming personality on- and off-screen, besides his kind heart, on the other hand, is that bedimpled smile.
Asked what makes him smile, or should one say flash his signature smile, by The STAR in a recent media call, he answered, “Being able to do the thing that I love to do, which is, you know, making people happy. Being able, you know, to inspire people with the things that I do every day. I think that’s one of my callings; that’s the higher calling of my career.”
The Specialign brand ambassador was referring to his entertainment work, encompassing acting and hosting, as one could glean. He considered them as “platforms and blessings.” Through the latter, he can inspire his audience and followers to “be the better persons of themselves.”
“Whenever I get the chance to meet people saying, ‘You know what, Alden, I’ve been looking up to you for the longest time, and these are the things that happened because of that,’ and that makes me very happy and glad,” he continued. “You know, sinasabi ko na sa sarili ko na siguro that’s one of the reasons why I’m still here in the industry because I still have a mission, and that’s more than enough reason for me to smile every day.”
What makes him smile these days is being part of Specialign, which provides clear and comfortable teeth aligners to one. They are hassle-free. After the first fitting, one doesn’t need to come back for refitting. It fits Alden’s always-on-the-go lifestyle and a busy year ahead. He is tapped to host “Stars on the Floor” and headline a streaming platform's content and the Kapuso medical drama-action. “I am just really blessed that I don’t get that feeling of stagnancy,” he said, who has recently celebrated his 15th year in showbiz, in a group chat. “(I don’t have that) feeling of (being) stuck up, na parang nagawa mo na lahat, parang what’s next. There is always a next. There is always something new to try.”
That’s why he has dabbled in producing and “being involved in different projects within and outside the Philippines, and also the business aspects of the things I’m exploring right now. I think never-ending ang opportunities,” shared he. “You just have to find those things by yourself and find the best ones because not all opportunities are the same,” added Alden. “Not all opportunities will give you growth, maybe learning, but somehow be smart with choosing the things that you want to get into.”
As for finding love in the new year, he said, “Kung dadating, dadating siya (if it comes, it will). I’m waiting for love to talk to me kasi, you know, of course, because based on experiences as well, parang ayoko muna siyang ilagay sa priority list right now ‘coz there’s so many things happening (in my career), and at the same time, gusto ko munang ma-solidify lahat yun, at least ma-sustain ko muna lahat ng yun before diving into things like that, which is a different commitment naman.” Aside from his creative pursuits, Alden is also a businessman who will soon open a heritage branch of a fast-food restaurant.
