July 16 ------ AKARI restored its winning form against Capital1, 25-23, 25-18, 26-24, in the 2025 PVL on Tour at the Playtime Filoil Centre. Just as a fourth-set extension looked imminent, Akari mounted a 13-2 run from 12-21 down to repulse the hapless Solar Spikers in straight sets.

The Chargers end pool play at 2-3 after losing two of their first three matches.

Middle blocker Ezra Madrigal rose to the occasion with 11 points on eight attacks and three blocks while Grethcel Soltones had nine markers and 11 receptions. Debuting head coach Tina Salak also posted her second win in charge after arriving late since taking a quick family break in the United States.

The Solar Spikers dropped dead-last in Pool B without a win in five matches sans their first-overall draft pick in Alas Pilipinas’ Bella Belen. Back-to-back 11-point games from newcomer Rachel Austero and Shola Alvarez all went for naught. But even with a winless finish to pool play, Capital1 isn't out of the woods just yet. Next up for the Solar Spikers is the knock-out round where it will shoot for the last few places in the quarterfinal round.
