After her success in pageant, acting and business, Kylie Versoza stays hungry for more

MANILA, August 5 ------ It seems like in every industry Kylie Versoza walks into, she always comes out successful. Whether it be showcasing her beauty and wit in pageants, proving her acting prowess in various films and TV shows or starting a brand of her own, she has done it all well.

But these achievements did not come easy. Versoza first became known to the public as a candidate for Binibining Pilipinas in 2015. Her 15th place finish, she said in an  interview, made her "hungrier" for the crown. When she rejoined the pageant in 2016, Versoza not only took the Binibining Pilipinas International 2016 title, but also took the Miss International crown for the Philippines in the same year. But still, Versoza said, “I’m so hungry for so many things,” as she sat down with ABS-CBN News during the launch of a new collection from her shapewear brand SOLÁ.vVersoza would feel the same hunger for achievement when she entered show business and she is not stopping after every goal she achieves.

A year after her reign, Versoza began her acting journey. She played Prinsesa ng Kawal, in Star Cinema's "Ang Panday," which was her first appearance in a film. vSince then, she had starred in various films, music videos and TV shows locally. Some of her notable projects are ABS-CBN's romance-drama series "Los Bastardos", "Love Lockdown" and recently, "Elevator."

In 2022, Versoza finally satisfied her "hunger" for an acting award, winning the Best Actress Award at the Distinctive International Arab Festivals Award (DIAFA) in Dubai, United Arab Emirates for playing the lead role in the Filipino adaptation of South Korean film "The Housemaid." After acting in the local scene for seven years, Versoza said, “I really want to work internationally and build a career there… hopefully anywhere in the U.S., or in Europe or regionally."

Taking on projects that are mostly in the romance category, she definitely wants to explore and venture into playing roles that are more in the drama, action and psycho-thriller genres. Asked for the one character she played that is most relatable to her, Versoza shared that it was Bettina, her role in the film “Elevator” with Paulo Avelino. “I loved it because she’s basically a struggling business woman/entrepreneur until she finds what’s right for her. And I can relate that to SOLÁ, because we’ve also been through a lot of ups and downs, so I can definitely relate to her [Bettina],” Versoza says.

Aside from her goal to start a career abroad, the multi-hyphenate has also a lot of dreams for her own shapewear brand as she aims to introduce it not only to the Southeast Asian market but to the world.
