Zelensky invites Ireland to join European anti-ballistic initiative under Drone Deal

July 2 ------ President Volodymyr Zelensky has invited the Irish government to join a European anti-ballistic initiative as part of the proposed Drone Deal framework.

He made the announcement during a joint press conference with Irish Prime Minister Micheál Martin, an Ukrinform correspondent reports. "When we talk about security, we are talking about European security. Above all, we are referring to the format we are currently proposing – a European anti-ballistic program to ensure Europe has sufficient protection against the most dangerous missiles. Today, we began discussions with Ireland in the field of drones and new technologies. We are proposing a Drone Deal and the relevant technologies. This creates an opportunity to build direct and effective cooperation between our enterprises and companies. We very much hope that Ireland will give positive consideration to these opportunities for future cooperation. This is about the security of our skies and the security of our seas," Zelensky said.

As reported by Ukrinform, on June 29, President Zelensky and Danish Defense Minister Jeppe Bruus, discussed joint efforts on anti-ballistic defense and preparations for the Drone Deal. Earlier on Tuesday, President Zelensky arrived in Dublin to attend the ceremony marking the start of Ireland's Presidency of the Council of the European Union.
