Yulo brothers banner Team PH in Rotterdam world championships

October 17 ------ Siblings Carlos and Eldrew Yulo look to clinch their early 2028 Los Angeles Olympics spots as they headline Team Philippines against a strong field in the 2026 FIG World Artistic Gymnastics Championships which kicks off today, Oct. 17, in Rotterdam, the Netherlands.

The tournament features 24 countries who are all vying to claim precious berths in the next Summer Games, with the winners in all-around and each of the apparatus earning slots in the quadrennial meet. Fresh off his two-gold medal haul in the continental showpiece last month, the 25-year-old Carlos is heavily favored in floor exercise and vault being the recent champion in the Paris Olympics.

Eldrew, for his part, eyes a breakthrough in his debut appearance at the worlds after turning heads with his victories in the junior ranks. The Yulos compete in the qualification phase on Sunday, Oct. 18, at 4 p.m. Before Carlos and Eldrew step on the mat, Miguel Besana looks to earn his way to the podium of the nine-day meet when he vies in the men’s horizontal bar qualifiers this Saturday. Also part of the team is Haylee Garcia, the lone female gymnast in the group, who is also looking to advance to the women’s all-around finals.
