Yulo brothers bag gold medals in Asian Championships

May 20 ------ BROTHERS Carlos and Eldrew Yulo collected a total of three gold medals on Sunday at the end of the 2024 AGU Artistic Gymnastics Asian Championships in Tashkent, Uzbekistan. Carlos bagged two gold medals in the vault and parallel bars in the seniors division, while younger brother Eldrew captured gold in the vault in the juniors competition.

The Yulos represented the present and future of Philippine gymnastics on Sunday and they didn’t disappoint. Carlos, bound for the Paris Olympics in July, was in excellent form, scoring 14.833 in the vault and 15.133 in the parallel bars, bringing his gold medal tally in this year’s seniors competition which is on its 11th year to four.  The elder Yulo captured the men’s individual all-around and floor exercise over the past few days. It was Yulo’s first Asian crown in the all-around, and third straight title in the floor exercise.

Earlier in the day, 16-year-old Eldrew clinched his first-ever juniors crown with the vault gold, scoring 14.283, beating opponents from Kazakhstan and Uzbekistan. Eldrew captured the gold medal after settling for a silver last year.
