‘Wonder Woman’ sequel moves release date to Oct. 2

June 15 ------ The American superhero film “Wonder Woman 1984” will finally hit theaters on Oct. 2, director Patty Jenkins announced.

The director has shared the news in her Twitter account on Friday, June 12. “Wish we were sharing our film yesterday but there are more important things going on in our world we’d rather you focus on for now. Thank you to our fans for being so great, by our sides. Can’t WAIT for you to see it! Sending love and healing to the world. See you October 2nd!!” Jenkins said.

Meanwhile, the film’s lead star Gal Gadot confirmed the news in a Facebook post. “The new release date for WW84 is Oct. 2. Wow, it’s finally happening, and I couldn’t be more excited! To all the fans that stuck with us through this time, thank you so much. I’m so excited for you to get to see this WW84, it will be worth the wait,” Gadot said.

The film was originally to premiere in December 2019, however, it was moved to November 2019. Then, it was rescheduled to June 2020. The sequel’s release date was delayed again to August 2020 due to coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) pandemic. The movie, based on the DC Comics character Wonder Woman, is the sequel to 2017’s “Wonder Woman” and the ninth installment in the DC Extended Universe (DCEU). The film also stars Chris Pine, Kristen Wiig, and Pedro Pascal, among others.
